Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you have a question you don’t see the answer to, we invite you to contact us.

General

What is FaceCall?

The only caller ID with video.

It lets you go beyond making ordinary audio calls to calls where people can see you without hearing you, so they know to answer. You can also see the people who are calling you, so can decide whether or not to answer.

Who is FaceCall for?

Consumers who want to personalize their communication with family, friends, and coworkers, and business people who want to improve how they communicate within their organizations and find new clients, partnerships, investors, candidates for jobs, or job opportunities among all the people who are members of the rapidly growing FaceCall community.

FaceCall is also a safe place to find new social connections nearby or around the world. The app lets you search for members by interests. Just choose a category and explore it.

How do I join the FaceCall community?

Simply download the app, using the links to the AppStore and PlayStore on the homepage of FaceCall.com. Once it’s installed, open it and follow the easy step-by-step instructions.
We provide support for the following devices:

  • Android running OS 4.1 and newer
  • iPhone running iOS 10 and newer

Note: FaceCall can only be activated on one device at a time.

How do I create a video invitation?

You can easily record a video preview when you’re calling someone. Then when the person you’re calling receives the call, he or she can see you’re the one who’s calling and hear the reason for your call. When you receive a call, you can see and hear the video preview of the caller and decide to accept the call, decline it, or let it go to FaceCall’s unique video voicemail.

What makes FaceCall different from other apps?

When you place video calls with the FaceCall app, the people you’re calling can automatically see your face. So they know at a glance that you’re the caller and are more likely to pick up. And when people call you, you know at a glance who it is and can decide whether to answer. With other video calls, you can’t see and hear who’s calling until you answer.

Is there any other app that offers a video preview?

No. The FaceCall breakthrough is the video preview, and it can’t be imitated, because the FaceCall technology is protected by several patents.

How do I get the FaceCall App?

You can easily download the iOS version from the App Store or the Android version from the Google Play Store.‍

Security and Privacy

How secure is FaceCall?

Privacy and security are in our DNA, which is why FaceCall is protected by end-to-end encryption. So your messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents, status updates and calls are protected by state-of-the-art security.

How does end-to-end encryption protect me?

FaceCall has no ability to see the content of messages or listen to calls that are end-to-end encrypted, because messages sent and received on FaceCall occur entirely on your device.
Before a message leaves your device, it’s secured with a cryptographic lock, and only the recipient has the keys to view the message. In addition, the keys change with every message.
All of the encryption occurs automatically.
You can confirm your conversations are protected by checking the security verification code on your device.
End-to-end encryption has applications to law enforcement. We are obliged to review, validate, and respond to law enforcement requests based on applicable laws and policies. We prioritize emergency requests.

Should I ever back up my data?

Yes. We recommend you back up your data often. Then you’ll be prepared if your data must be restored.

Why does FaceCall ask for certain permissions?

In order for you to record a video or add to the contact list in your device, the FaceCall app needs you to grant access to the corresponding data. You can easily manage these permissions in your FaceCall Settings.

Do I own my videos or can FaceCall share them?

You are the owner of your content. If you mark your video as private, it will not be available to the public.
When you publish your video content in the FaceCall community, you grant FaceCall a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, fully paid, sub-licensable and transferable license to use, edit, modify, reproduce, distribute, and prepare derivative works of and otherwise fully use your video content in connection with our app and our communications platform.
Since video content includes your name, likeness, voice, video, or photograph, when you use FaceCall, you’re acknowledging and agreeing to our terms of use.

We ask you to provide your phone number when you register your account in the app. It’s how we verify that you’re a real person.
Our team also randomly monitors and verifies video introductions, so we can delete videos where the face of the user cannot be seen or if there is any other reason to doubt the authenticity of the video.

Do you sell my information?

No. We treat the privacy of our users very seriously and have no intention to share or sell your private information with third parties.

Troubleshooting

I can’t change my phone number

If you’re having issues using the Change Number feature, please make sure that:

  • Your old phone number is currently registered on your FaceCall account. You can see the phone number by going to your FaceCall Profile tab. If your old phone number isn’t registered, please register it. Then you should be able to change it.
  • You have an active and working SIM card for the new phone number you want to use with FaceCall.
  • You have a strong and stable cellular connection.
  • Your phone has sufficient internal storage.

Problems sending or receiving messages

The most common reason is a bad Internet connection.
If you’re sure your phone is connected to the Internet, there are a few reasons why FaceCall messages aren’t going through:

  • Your phone may need to be restarted or turned off and on.
  • The contact you’re messaging has blocked your number.

Incorrect timestamps on messages

If the timestamps displayed on your messages are incorrect, please check the time and time zone configuration on your phone. You may need to adjust them.
We recommend setting your date and time to Automatic or Network Provided. With this setting enabled, your mobile provider will set your phone to the correct time. If the incorrect time is still displayed when this setting enabled, then there might be an issue with your network. Please, contact your mobile provider to address it.
As a workaround, you can modify your date and time settings and correct your time zone manually.
Note: The time zone you’re in is different than the actual time. Make sure you select the correct time zone for your location.
To configure your time zone manually, please follow these steps on your phone:

  • Android: Go to Settings > System > Date & Time.
  • iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Date & Time.

If you have a question or questions we haven’t answered, please, contact our Help Center, and we’ll get back to you promptly.
